Three Mile Island, Peach Bottom to test sirens this week
HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) - Three Mile Island and Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station will test their emergency warning sirens this week.
Peach Bottom will test its 97 sirens at full-volume for three minutes on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
Three Mile Island's test is scheduled for Thursday at 12:15 p.m. TMI has 96 sirens in a 10-mile radius around the nuclear power plant.
The tests are required twice a year.
The sirens are not a signal to evacuate, but a warning to tune to a local Emergency Alert Broadcast television or radio station.
